![]() ![]() This means we’re only making changes to the exposure to achieve a nice, balanced waveform to start off with. The first node should be for EXPOSURE BALANCE. It really is up to you to discover your own way to structure your node tree when creating a grade, but there is a basic order to start with until you find your own preferred order. There are so many possibilities for how to arrange the nodes to achieve a particular look. That means it offers incredible flexibility to you in finding your grade. NODE ORDERĬhances are you already know that Davinci Resolve is a node-based application. In that case here are some simple yet invaluable ways to better use this powerful application. ![]() But maybe you’re stuck at just the basics and want to level up your colorist talent. Color grading on it is so easy I now want a photo-centric application that has a similar workflow to DVR.If you’ve been dabbling with Davinci Resolve off-and-on, you might be pretty familiar with its interface and feel fairly confident with your skills using it. Once you begin diving deeper you’d appreciate how almost everything video production related stuff is just there waiting for you to adjust. Every stage of the editing has its “tab” and you don’t have to touch anything you don’t understand yet. Take the initial hurdle of understanding the UI of DVR, TBH it’s not that difficult to understand. It has terrible color management tools, it lacks scopes that let you objectively know values, renders so slow, output is frankly terrible, and it crashes a lot. ![]() Don’t remember if you could even apply LUTs on HFE without paying for it. ![]() Then the only free color grading tool it has is the curves tool. Like HFE has the worst audio toolkit ever, its compressor can only be used per clip and not on an audio layer. We came from Hitfilm Express which seemed to be easiest to learn free NLE but TBH it just doesn’t have enough tools that objectively help you like scopes, etc. It’s just confusing at first but its workflow and UI actually is the most intuitive ever. ![]()
